History of Battle of Liscarroll Liscarroll Castle flatters to deceive. Lying on the edge of the picturesque North Cork town of the same name, the great fortress is certainly impresssive. Third largest of Ireland’s 13th century castles, the great walls, particularly viewed from the North, easily conjure up visions of men at war, knights in shining armour, the thunder of horses hooves as cavalry swooped down on an encircled enemy. To the south is the mighty entrance gateway, still retaining traces of the former portcullis and close by the mighty drum tower at the south west corner.

History of Watergrass Hill In 1654, the Down Survey maps were the most accurate to be produced in Ireland until that time and remained in use until the Ordnance Survey maps appeared in 1841. A section of the Down Survey can be viewed on this section showing all the townland names we are familiar with today.
Ireland Atlas searchable database/ Sean Ruad has compiled this search engine. It  will perform a search of the IreAtlas Townland data base, and return all lines that meet the screening requirements. By entering a Townland and a County, it will return all lines that contain the requested Townland and the requested County. Be aware, this is a VERY LARGE data base. If you only enter a County, the search engine will return EVERY Townland in that County. This will be a very large file.

Michael Collins short biography. This page is dedicated to Michael Collins(Easter Uprising, 1916). Michael Collins was born in Woodfield, Clonakilty, in County Cork in 1890. He was the youngest of eight children. His father, Michael Collins, was 75 years of age when Michael junior was born.
