Posted by mjbarrymore from same (Genealogy Web Site Updates)
Genealogy Web Site UpdatesFor those of you that may be unaware, the 1911 Irish Census is now live on line, and you can print off FREE copies of the original census forms filled out by your family ancesters.
The website is;
"www.census.nationalarchives.ie"

I got copies of all my Barry, Bogue, McCarthy, Canty cousins.
Regards,
Michael.

10/31/2009 11:44 - Co.Wexford Graveyards.
Posted by Randalmore from same (CMC Website Update)
CMC Website Update I can pass on information relating to several hundred headstone inscriptions from Rathnure and Killanne graveyards dating back to circa 1750, transcribed in two publications. These villages are situated at the foot of the Blackstairs Mts. in Co.Wexford. The old Killanne graveyard is particularly interesting as it contains some remains of those who fought on both sides in the rebellion of 1798. A celtic cross in memory of "Kelly the boy from Killanne" was erected c.1900. A railed grave encircles the resting place of Captain Blacker who fought in the American war of independence and the body of Jacob Byrne who was on board Nelson's ship at the battle of Trafalgar also rests nearby.

06/05/2009 19:38 - Irish Census 1911 - more counties online.
Posted by MickReganmore from same (Genealogy Web Site Updates)
Genealogy Web Site UpdatesA brief note to let everyone know that the National Archive of Ireland now have the 1911 census records for Antrim, Cork, Donegal, Down, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kings County (Offaly) and Wexford online.

It's free to use, and I did a search for my family in Cork a couple of days ago. I was delighted to find a copy of the original census so have to say well done to the people putting this together.

The archive can be found at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie
